We are a family-oriented living history group dedicated to a faithful portrayal of the common Union infantryman, with a specialty in representing the soldiers of the 13th Kansas. Our civilian component specializes in portraying the pre-Civil War Kansas Territorial (Bleeding Kansas) era. Many individual members have various offshoot interests, including local history specialists, biographies, in-depth research, period music, and the like.

The 13th Kansas membership comes from all walks of life and hail from across North-East Kansas. Our members partake in all genres of events from mainstream to  campaigner style, allowing us to offer the re-enacting experience each member chooses to follow. Individual members make themselves available to speak at schools, Civil War Roundtables, and historical societies.

We welcome those with an interest in living history, education, and the American Civil War to join our ranks. We participate in battle re-enactment scenarios, parades, living histories, public education and preservation efforts, each sharing equal importance within the scope of our mission. As a Civil War reenacting unit, we pride ourselves on authentic, period-appropriate, drill, dress, and impressions.

We are also the host of the 13th Infantry Fife and Drum Corps. This is a typical 19th century drum corps. They participate in many events each year, performing at Civil War period events as well as at parades and schools. Musicians at every level are welcome
